Why and how to make your own kefir?

July 8, 2010 13:00 by mihko

If you haven't heard about Kefir yet, now is your chance to find out more about this healthy drink and even get some tips on how to start making it yourself at home.

Kefir, also known as miracle drink, has a superb probiotic source and therefore many positive effects on your body. More than 78 health benefits you can find described in detail at http://www.yourkefirsource.com/kefir-benefits/kefir-health-benefits. I have been making kefir myself for over 2 years and it doesn't require much effort to make it.

Why not do it yourself instead of buying it in the shop. Below I share some of my tips on how to make your kefir:

1. If you have friends who make kefir you could get kefir grains from them as grains constantly reproduce and grow in milk. Alternately, you could also get them online. They usually sell them as kefir kits with the detailed description on how to grow them. You just need a few kefir grains to be able to make your kefir endlessly.

2. I use 1 liter of fresh cow milk. If possible find milk that is non-pasteurized and non-homogenized. This will improve your health and the culture of your kefir grains.

3. When you make kefir, combine the milk and kefir grains in a jar and cover it loosely to have some fresh air flow.

4. Where I live the temperature in the summer gets up to 32 degrees Celsius so I make my kefir in the fridge. I set the temperature of the fridge to about 6 degrees Celsius.

5. Mix your milk and kefir grains with a wooden utensil each day, if possible even more than once a day.

6. After a day or so depending on how much milk you have and kefir grains you added try and taste it. Once you like it and you feel that great sourey sparkling taste the kefir is done.

7. Strain out the grains so you can repeat the process of making new kefir!

8. Don’t forget to drink kefir fresh and add new milk to the kefir grains in the jar.

The reason to add this to my blog is to keep this sentence in my mind and to recall it as often as possible.  We are the masters of our body and our mind and we do have the capability to positivly influence and improve our life.

digg.com 85% of US Unhappy with Economy

July 20, 2008 17:03 by Admin

While browsing on digg.com this is one of the articles I came across by.

What was even more interesting for me is the comments after the article on:
http://digg.com/business_finance/85_of_U_S_Unhappy_with_Economy

The comment that I really loved so much that I even decided to put on my blog is the following one:

From pjpark

"I am among the proud 15% who are not unhappy with the economy because I don't watch the news. I am also one of the 94% of Americans with a job, one of the 8% without a car, and one of the 1% of Americans without a television. So get rid of your car and your television and get a job and you could be happy like me."
